We are excited to announce that the long awaited Moanalua Performing Arts Center will finally become a reality! The Boosters have been able to confirm that Governor Lingle has recently released the initial 4.7 million dollars needed to design and start construction of the new 17 million dollar facility. This is an exciting development for the Music Program, Moanalua High School and the community as a whole.

For those of you who are aware of the need for a public large-venue Performing Arts Center, but may not know the specifics, it is envisioned that will consist of a new building complex on the Moanalua High School campus located adjacent to the Student parking lot, Student Center and Baseball Field. The preliminary design includes a 1,000 seat auditorium, box office, music library, practice rooms and additional classroom and storage space, which when completed, will be the new home of the Moanalua music department programs.

Thank you all for your support! Whether it be working behind the scenes or offering to sign our petitions of support! A special thank you is in order for Senator Sakamoto, Representative Glenn Wakai, and our Principal Darrel Galera who not only had the vision, but dedicated their time to making the Performing Arts Center a reality.

I would encourage you to send a letter or email Governor Lingle, in your own words, thanking her for investing in our music program, local community, and the future of the fine arts. Her contact information can be found at: www.hawaii.gov/gov/contact.
